Washington, DC - The Postal Regulatory Commission announced today that Michael M. Kubayanda has returned to the agency as chairman. After being re-nominated by President Joseph R. Biden and unanimously confirmed by the U.S. Senate, Chairman Kubayanda was sworn back into office today, December 9, 2021, to serve a term through November 22, 2026.

Washington, DC – The Postal Regulatory Commission today issued its Advisory Opinion on the U.S. Postal Service proposal to revise service standards for First-Class Package Service (FCPS). (Docket No. N2021-2). The proposal would lengthen service standards by 1 to 2 days for approximately 31.2 percent of FCPS volume and shorten service standards by one day for approximately 4.8 percent of FCPS volume.

Washington, DC – Today, the Postal Regulatory Commission (Commission) issued its bipartisan, consensus advisory opinion to the U.S. Postal Service (Postal Service) regarding the Postal Service’s proposal to revise the service standards for First-Class Mail and end-to-end Periodicals. The Postal Service’s request is to increase the service standards by up to two additional days for some categories of First-Class Mail and Periodicals mail.

Washington, DC – Today, the Postal Regulatory Commission (Commission) issued its 2020 Annual Compliance Determination (ACD) assessing the pricing and service performance of the Postal Service in fiscal year 2020 (39 U.S.C. Section 3653). The Commission is required to issue its ACD 90 days after the filing of the Postal Service’s Annual Compliance Report (ACR).

The Postal Service announced a 10-year strategic plan on March 23, 2021. Prior to implementation, some parts of the plan require the Postal Service to request an advisory opinion from the Postal Regulatory Commission (Commission). The law requires the Postal Service to seek such an opinion for changes that generally affect service on a nationwide or substantially nationwide basis.
